Makabucha Day is a religious public holiday.It came from the day when1250 disciples from the Lord Buddha gathered to listen for the Dharma speech after Buddha's enlightment.
Merit Making ceremonies take place at the temples at night to afternoon time, candlelit procession happen.Monk and local people walk 3 times around the temple main building.
1. One time for the Lord Buddha
2. One time for the Sangha, i.e. Buddhist Monk community.
3. One time for the Dharma, i.e. Buddhist teachings.
This candlelit procession is called. Monks are holding a sacred thread and a candle. Faithful Buddhist are holding a candle, incense stick or lotus flower. Other activities include alms offering and listening to monks' teachings
